Hi folks.

So, I had a V30 but ended up selling it because I had issues with it overall. I now have a Galaxy S10+, which I'm satisfied with, except for the headphone audio. Since I listen to a wide variety of music, the quad DAC was something that I loved. As such, I'm looking to get a V-Series phone on the cheap to use solely for music while at home and on Wi-Fi. Would you say the V20's DAC is on par with the V30, or do they improve on it with every generation? Also, since I won't be putting my SIM in it, does it matter if I get a US or International version, or whether it's locked to a carrier or unlocked? The fact that the V20 has a user replaceable battery is definitely also a plus. Feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Which version you get, if you're using it on WiFi, makes no difference (as long as it's not in a language you can't read).

Not having a SIM in it might give you a constant (not swipe-able) notice that the SIM is missing, but that's about it.

As far as which DAC is better, even if I had both phones here, I'd have a problem telling you (my hearing cuts off at 4kHz). That's something you'd have to listen to (using the same headphones on both) to determine.

If you want to root:

To root the V20, you have to flash an older ROM [see https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/guide-root-twrp-lg-v20-using-dirtysanta-t3722278 - use Magisk].

The V30 is easier to root - see https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76584629&postcount=193 (but has no replaceable battery).
