I currently have the HTC10 which is two years old and still works quite well battery wise - I am able to get 4 and a half hours of screen on time with light to moderate usuage.

My contract is up and I could get a new phone. Everything about the V30 ticks boxes for me including the battery and sound, the only thing is a concern the chipset. Because I keep phones for long times 2years+ this might be a legitimate issue.

Part of me is happy to get the V30 but the chipset is already a year old. I'm sure it's good for now but if I plan on keeping it for another two years then I'm not sure I will be able to enjoy the phone as I have been now. My HTC10 is still only good because of I have implemented all the battery saving tips and tricks and because of my light usage.

Is anybody else consider V40 or will stick with V30 for longer?

Well I have a V30 and it's holding up great for me. Depending on your budget, you may want to jump on the V30 at a good price in the near future, otherwise I'd say wait for the V40 as the V35 looks like a V30 with the slightly upgraded chipset for the most part and a brand new price. I personally have no plans to ditch my V30 until 2019s phones at the earliest. (I usually go 2+ years per cycle myself)

I would not worry about the processor. It's not like any updated OS will kill it. The current level of processor is more than adequate. The battery will die long before you have worry.

If the processor is your worry, you might wanna consider the LG G7 thinq.
It's basically a V30 with an additional Google Assistent button, a newer SOC and cameras that are a bit better in low light situation.
It has a bit a smaller battery though.
But everything else is very similar to the V30

ps: oh, and yes, it as a notch

The V35 is the V30 with an 845 processor. On the other hand, The 835 is a really good processor, and will still be pretty good 2 years from now. Battery life also seems to be better on the 835 than the 845.

Yeah this is what I have heard. Is this issue specific to LG V30 vs LG 7 or is the 845 known accoss the smartphone world to not be as efficient as it could be especially in relation to the 835.
