I updated with the November security patch. Have sd card in with a couple apps on it, lots of app disabled, and no problems. Verizon. I never understand why some phones have problems with things that others don't on the same carrier, and the same update. WTF.

I assume you've seen by now that there are a ton of Spen apps on the phone already. You can use it with Google Keep, too, and Evernote if you have it.

I had a case I liked, a Gpel Pure Max, and I stopped using it because getting the pen out was driving me crazy, it was just so difficult. Got a couple other cases and it's no problem, so it is definitely possible your case is making it harder than it needs to be.

I havem't had any lag with the stock keyboard. If Swiftkey didn't work it sounds like a problem with something on the phone, an app or setting. The Note has a lot of settings that can change how something works. Did you factory reset yet? A pain, but it might tell you if it was an app or a setting.
