I switched between the VZW text app and then Samsung's...only because VZW was having some issues. I never used the Google text app...but I will check it out. For texting, I don't text or sync with a tablet or laptop -- just my phone! Thanks for the great insight and experience.

Entirely possible. I know plenty of people must be. I am not tech savvy so that's a handicap. My S8+ worked fine. The one IT person said I should get the new phone, call them first, and then add/activate -- specifically my google/gmail -- accounts AFTER the device has been enrolled, installed...
