I'm not a paid reviewer - in fact - I just paid Motorola $1,300 for two Moto X phones. Best purchase I've made, and one that I made BECAUSE of the active notifications and the fact that when I pull the freaking phone out of my pocket it gives me the time without me having to do anything else! It's the small things that count - and Motorola nailed this one out the park. Battery life? That's just an added bonus.

I like the moto x, I do and im considering buying one but you spent $1,300 for something you can download and not having to press a button??? The laziness the world is coming to..

My battery has also been stellar right out of the box. 6-8 hours screen time on both of my charges with everything on except Bluetooth.

I'm on my second day and the battery isn't that great so far. Right now I'm at 77% after 6 hours and only 30 minutes of screen time. Also Android OS is the highest battery user at 35%.

Getting better every day. Getting 6-8 hours screen time since day one but now the total uptime hours are going up.

I don't understand how people are getting so much more battery life than me. I guess I just use my phone more? I only have 2.5 hours of screen on time (with pretty low brightness) for the second picture below (they're taken from two different days). Far from 24 hours. Even though it doesn't really get all the way through the day, I'm not really worried about it now. But in a year and a half, the battery probably won't hold as much of a charge.

This looks good. That is a lot of usage it appears to me.

Any chance you'd be willing to use it JUST on LTE for a day? I'm curious how that will affect your battery life, seeing as you appear to be on WiFi the entire time.

I can do a test tomorrow with WiFi off the entire day. I've been doing 1/2 WiFi and 1/2 LTE and getting 24 hours with 5 hours screen time.

That's trending for 26 hours and 2 hours 10 minutes of screen time.

That's not awful but I've seen people getting much better results.

So much of it depends on how you use it. Screen on times may be similar for people, but one could be doing much more processor intensive tasks, screen brightness may be different, etc. All I can say is that compared to my usage with my HTC One I believe it is better or at least comparable. Wednesday will be my first "true" work day test so that will personally give me a better comparison between the two devices, but so far I'm pleased.

Now I'm at 10 hours with 1 hour of screen time and I'm at 63%. As long as it lasts until I get home I'm good and I can charge during the day if I need to. I just thought it was not so great compared to what other people were getting. We'll see how the next week goes.

Here is todays time with an added 3.5 hours of LTE. Spent the LTE time mostly on YouTube and streaming music. With 36% left, getting another hour or 2 running LTE shouldn't be a problem at all I would think. Like I said before, this thing is running circles around what my iPhone 5 was capable of doing and way better than my GS4 could ever do. While the Maxx that I tested out for a week was certainly better with battery times it wasn't that much better. All location settings are on except for Bluetooth and I use Lama to turn off my WiFi when I leave the house. For the first 72 hours of owning my Moto X I have gotten 6-8 hours of screen time on all three charges.

very light use (some browsing, texting, few calls, around 20mins of streaming google music), only on LTE (Verizon) and maybe 2 hours on 3G
Brightness at 50%

Now you're up to a trend of 27 hours total and 2.7 hours on screen.

Nexus. Through spacetime.
