Hangouts vs default sms

Nope, not at all. Install another keyboard of your choice and enable it from Hangouts. Via Hangouts, settings - sms - default. Hope this helps.

ok, wanted to make sure i wouldnot lose anything.

what about moto connect? I noticed in the web browser plugin - it shows the default SMS client, will moto connect use hangouts once I change it over for SMS?

I use Hangouts for SMS. I also use Motorola Connect perfectly

I was at 4.2 and it was the default SMS. I was hesitant to goto hangouts, but all is good now.

You mean slower sending of messages or performance within the app?

I have not noticed anything different performance wise and message seem to send immediately.

I haven't noticed any performance issues, and enjoy a single app for all my messages... almost. Can't wait until Voice is rolled in.

I think that the app slower to load when first opening , but sends messages faster than the stock app

Had to switch back to the regular SMS app. Hangout wasn't sending MMS texts properly. Always had these error message stating message was not sent.

Ever since switching back, I had no more issues with sending out MMS texts
