Clean Install of Lollipop on Pure Edition

How to do? Never done this before. My guess:

1) Factory reset
2) Upgrade to Lollipop
3) Factory Reset

Correct/the best process to assure a clean upgrade?

P.S, To those who celebrate it: Merry Christmas! To EVERYONE: Happy Holidays! :)

Skip 1) and just do 2) and 3)

Merry Christmas to you as well.

Don't forget to back up your custom Moto X background if you have one (and you care), as that supposedly will be lost when you do a factory reset. I'd save it to Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, or any of the other cloud services.
