Different companies have different priorities simple as that.I'd love to hear that Motorola has heard the concerns over the past droids with subpar optics and sensors, but apparently they missed the boat for allot of people. Al one can do is vote with their wallet. I'm simply not that critical over a cell phone camera that's all. It's just my opinion and im not discrediting others concerns. Hopefully it can be addressed in firmware. Sofware can definitely optimize the saturation and in part "perceived detail" but im not so sure about the quality of glass being used.

I hear you man. I just wish Motorola would provide a state of the art quality camera experience to match all the other good things they've done with this phone. In regard to future updates, I'd love to see it happen but Motorola's track record doesn't suggest that any update will be forthcoming.
For anyone worried about washed out looking pics, just download a free app called Photo Editor on the front page of that Play Store search of Photo Editors. It is so simple to use and in less than 5 seconds, you can bring back all of the richness in those washed out photos. I got it and is is a great little app. Now you have a Moto X with rich looking pics.
People need to stop knocking the camera. I'm getting some pretty darn satisfactory shots with mine.

Some pictures I've taken over the past few days.
