Droid 2 global unlock screen

So i just upgraded from the original droid to the droid 2 global, and one thing i immediately noticed is that on the droid original when the screen was locked and i had a pattern lock on it as soon as i turned the screen on it would give me the pattern input display...on the droid 2 global i am having to swipe across screen first and then input the pattern password. this is very annoying, is there anyway to get rid of the swipe first and make it like the original droid?

Also with a processor 2x as fast i thought i would have noticed an immediate increase in speed but to my disappointment it doesnt seem much faster...any tips?

Thanks for all the info in other forums guys I rooted my phone and installed the latest version of fission, pretty awesome. I love all the new features and I am not even close to finished setting it up, but to my surprise, the swipe screen before the pattern password is still there! There must be a way to remove this right??
