I think the only thing that is stopping from getting the i1 is the lack of an update to the latest software. Otherwise, I would willingly plop down 400 bucks for this phone. Has anybody heard anything new about whether or not this is gonna happen?

I'm so glad I never made that $400 mistake. I also switched (back) to Virgin Mobile and picked up the Optimus V. Other than the short battery life, I love the phone.I just dumped my i1 for a LG Optimus V on Virgin after Motorola updated their software upgrade news page:
