OTA Update to Oreo 8.0?

Did all the people in the Nexus 5x forum who are already on Oreo update their phone from 7.1.2 manually, or did at least some of them receive the update over-the-air? I'm patiently waiting for my OTA update with no luck yet. Honestly, the update to 8.0 isn't terribly important to me, but I do get nervous still sitting on August security updates.

I got my OTA about 2 weeks ago now. I'm on Verizon so you can imagine how surprised I was that I got it so fast

I bought my phone from the Google Play Store. Does the carrier actually matter? I thought the updates were coming directly from Google. I'm pretty sure I got the previous updates pretty soon after they were released. I'm on T-Mobile if that matters.

Husband's phone received the OTA at least 3 weeks ago. I don't think the Sept update has gotten to his phone. I just flash on mine as it's rooted, but the Sept update was on mine about 2 weeks ago. His came from an electronics store and mine from project fi.
