Android Central Question

My phone is having this persistent notification about USB usage.
It says USB supplying power to attached device.
It gives me five options when I click it, but none makes it go away.
I've tried wiping cache,
Turning it off for an hour or two,
Changing USB usage directly from developer options.
And cleaning the USB port with a cloth and needle, and nothing seems to be working. Strangely, the same day it appeared desperately trying to make it go away I tried to choose one of the options again and it magically went away... Until I turned it off and on.

Im using a Nexus 5x.
Also my battery is dying quicker, so this is an urgent fix.

It sounds as if you need a new USB port - but it could also be in the circuit attached to the port (the charger [the thing you plug into the wall isn't the charger, it's just the power supply]). It has to go into the shop in any case.
