How do I merge contacts?

Merging Contacts

So far loving the 6P, with one exception. I am not sure if this is a 6p issue or marshmallow issue, or more likely, me being a dumb@ss. I cannot get my contacts from various sources to merge. I have Contacts+ and Outlook (for my Exchange account). I want the Google Contacts to get all of the info from these to other accounts so I can use the Google Messenger App without having to re-enter phone numbers , etc, that are already in other accounts. So far have been unable to figure it out.

I am confident that my ignorance is making this much more complicated than it has to be, any help would be appreciated.

Under the contacts app, you should see multiple related contacts from different accounts. Choose the one created as Google contact, then it edit (the little pencil top right), then hit the three dots in the top right and select link or merge. Then you can merge them into one.
