Is it possible, or are there hardware requirements as well? I'm hoping it comes to Android before N, I just think the world of that technology and its potential. I know Google has been working hard on it for their iOS apps, and I'm hoping it gets to Android sooner than later.

Anyone hear anything about it? Specifically via update or near future phone (S7, M10, G5).

Let's just say it was possible, do you really believe Google will release it or save it for the next nexus.

Hmmmm. Good point. If it is possible, I can see Google putting it in the next OS and Nexus 6P users can it when the update is pushed to our phone in early 2017.

A cheap force touch on the home screen would be to lock the screen layout (like so when you hold down it doesn't drag an app) and instead make that long press into a force touch activity. And when you do want to edit the home screen hit menu, and edit home screen

No but it would be similar to holding down an app and giving a list of menus to somewhat emulate force touch and with the menu to have options.
