OK then, now that my tablet replacement issues have been resolved, (thanks d0m0 & lancorp) , time to focus on the front facing camera. While I don't expect much from a camera with a plastic lens, 4-5mp images should look much better than what I have seen posted. Once Android Central decides to give us our own forum ( as opposed to 'other tablets') we should develop a 'best of' list. I've seen so many 'good' reviews for quite a few Apps, but which one is best for the Sero 7 Pro?

Netflix - works perfectly
TV Portal - works perfectly

Actually, I've now loaded all the apps I have on my SIII, onto my Sero.
No problems with any of them.

I think what's best, is a matter of personal opinion.

With the exception of phone service & navigation , I use mine for everything I use my phone for.

I send and receive text/mms via Mighty Text.
Sync all the data I use via Dropbox, or use apps that sync via Google.

Basically my Sero is just an extension of my phone.

If you're inferring that a different camera app on the Sero will produce better pictures, yes, I have read that is the case. I don't remember exactly which one(s), but apparently the problem with picture quality may be the built in camera app and not the camera hardware.

No, dropped, spill, screen and other accidental damage plan for the Sero 7 Pro is $15 and tax. Comes up automatically on the register at checkout and its on my receipt. The price is higher if you buy the plan online with ship to store with the tablet.

In my opinion you don't pick up enough benefit to root this device. It's OS is pure Android.

Complete OTG support, copy from to, HDD, Flash drives.

Support for some apps to external SD card.

Ability to remove the pre-installed apps from memory.

(after you uninstall them with app manager,, the installation apk's are still there)

Ability to use apps that require root.

I'm sure there are other reasons, but these are what come to mind right now.

Re: Hisense Sero 7 Pro - Recommended Camera App

If you're inferring that a different camera app on the Sero will produce better pictures, yes, I have read that is the case. I don't remember exactly which one(s), but apparently the problem with picture quality may be the built in camera app and not the camera hardware.

I am a part-time photographer who pretty much knows my way around cameras and photography. The stock Sero 7 Pro rear camera pretty much performs very poorly. I have tried several (MX Camera, Pudding Camera, Camera 360 Ultimate, and probably a few I've forgotten) of the most popular camera apps on the Play Store. Two are worth using. First is the lgCamera App. Made noticeable improvements in camera performance, but has a really clunky, but still highly detailed interface for selecting settings.

My clear #1 choice is; "Snap Camera HDR." This app has a really nice, on-screen menu system with enough features to offer all that you will likely ever need. The improvement in the photographs themselves when the settings are dialed in correctly is really quite amazing. In reading the user reviews you will see that the developer is highly responsive and always providing improvements and updates. I had a question for him and had a reply back in less than three hours. The HDR Feature really works well in capturing two internal shots, then blending them into a final picture that has been optimally exposed and balanced. As far as video, holy cow does this App improve it, especially when you have the white balance and exposure properly set. (see below for setting suggestions).

Even with the stock camera app - try adjusting your, "white balance" and, "exposure."

- If outdoors in good light do not use "auto" for white balance, but set to the sunlight icon
- For exposure, in bright light, experiment with, 0 or -1 and you will likely see a large improvement.

You can try the Snap Camera HDR for free in a full featured app. All you have to agree to is to disable wifi when using it. I quickly saw enough from the free app to reward the developer by purchasing the full version - easy, easy decision.

For me, this is the final camera app I will even look at for this tablet. I can honestly report that for the Sero 7 Pro, this app is dialed in to what ever it is internally in the Sero 7 Pro that it has to match up with to make it a great choice to install. Every camera software is based on an, "algorithm." I have found over the years that some apps or PC Software just align correctly with the camera itself and just flat out work for no apparent rhyme or reason where others do not match up as well. That is what I believe is the case here. I highly suggest trying out this app.

Re: Hisense Sero 7 Pro - Recommended Camera App

Need Help/Advise with HD Card.

For the life of me, I can not figure out how to send data such as photos/videos from the camera to the sd card.

I can, "see" my card and all the files I placed there from the PC are present.

I try to set the path to the sd card when saving files and it keeps coming up with an, "emulated" card. This looks to me to be the internal storage of the device.

In file explorer it shows sd and sd1 with sd1 being the actual card and again, sd appears to be my internal memory.

MX Player "sees" videos on the sd card and can play them as well, so I know the card is functional when installed.

My issue seems to be one of understanding the Android folder hierarchy or some such ignorance on my feeble self.

Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes your external SD card will be listed as either SD1 or SD2, depending on the file manager

If you are talking about sending photos/videos from the camera app, you set that in the camera settings.
When in the camera app:
Press the circle in the bottom right corner of the screen
Select the menu icon, 3 horizontal lines
Turn on, Store Location
At the bottom of the menu it should then say, Storage location Micro SD card

The Android folder system is odd because the SD card is actually simulated, it's part of the 8gb internal memory.

The folder structure for this SD card is just like a PC.

There is nothing in any of the other folders listed that you should fool with.
they are for the operating system

The SDcard 1 is the external micro SD card
The folder structure for this is just like a PC

If you are talking about putting files from your PC on the tablet.

The quickest way is to remove the card and put it in a card reader attached to your PC.

Drag and drop files and folders onto the SD card.

Has anyone else experienced a problem with "duplicate" folders on the micro sd card ? I started with a simple Pictures, Music, Movies, Videos, Documents structure. Several days later I noticed that Gallery app indicated all of my pictures folders had doubled in number. When I displayed the content of a pictures folder, I saw a photo followed by a blank entry. Same occured for movies, etc.

Attached tablet to computer and examined S7 micro sd card in detail ....... I now have two Pictures folders, two music folders, etc. One folder has the original content, the second is empty. First time it happened, I reformatted the sd card and reloaded everything. A day or so later, same thing, duplicate copies of every folder ....... this time I ended up with 3 copies of each folder. Something is messing with the directory structure to the sd card. Any ideas what is causing it and how to elliminate ?

Oh yeah ....... There is a much simpler way to get rid of the duplicate files. Simply go into settings / storage and unmount the sd card followed by a mount sd card. When all is complete, you're back to a single set of folders.

Edit : Searching this problem on internet, I feel safe stating it is not a unique Sero 7 Pro problem. Looks like it has been going on for over a year and across different hardware platforms as well as Android OS releases. Can not tell how wide spread the problem is, but definitely occurring for multiple users. No reported cause or cure to date that I can find. While annoying, it is easily enough to cure with the SD unmount, SD mount procedure.

Sure would like to know cause / cure if any of you fine readers stumble across it.
