Who's switching from iPhone 6 /6s/plus to s7 edge

One thing I'm noticing in this thread is how amazing iPhone 6 users think their battery life is/was. This seems to all be relative to past iPhones, which had terrible battery life despite a very static OS.

I think those users will find the S7 Edge's battery life to be quite good, adequate at worst. It won't exceed the battery life on a Windows Phone device (best in class as far as that goes), but it'll certainly exceed the battery life of almost every iPhone model, and most Androids with the possible except of the Sony Xperia line.

I got my 7Edge last Wednesday coming from a 6sPlus. Very happy overall, but disappointed in battery as has been typically on Android. Basically the same apps and usage. Nothing turned off on the iPhone and some things like location, location reporting, push email all turned off on the Edge. I hate having to worry about battery, but I love the rest of the phone.

The Android system seems to be the biggest offender. I also feel the phone getting warm for no reason from time to time. I have done a reset as well. I truly believe that the OS and apps simply aren't as efficient and it is what it is.

Just my own experience and I wish mine was as good as some others. I use Good Work suite for my corporate email and calendar. It requires a constant connection, but it was the same on my iPhone without negatively impacting the battery life.

I'm still debating on ditching my 6s Plus for it. My iPhone is so smooth and battery is insane and I'll miss iMessage and lightning fast updates. But iOS is so old and stale. It's the same thing it was 4 years ago. And this phone is bulky and heavy.
IF u have invested a lot in appstore and accessories in apple ecosystem , then there is no point in moving to android but if u consider moving as i am in transistion i can say the features offered by s7edge are by far from an iphone . I will try to list my pros of s7edge as apple user for lot of time .
Pros of s7 edge over iphone :
1.super AMOLED 2k Screen
2.expandable storage
3.15 GB google drive storage(icloud)
4.water resistance
5. fast charging/(free)wireless charging
6.Free Gear VR
7. awsome CAMERA/ TONS OF FEATURES
8. HEART RATE MONITOR / BLOOD OXYGEN LEVEL MONITOR.
9. Samsung pay. Worked every where i tried
10. Themes . i am in love with the customizations. I have even changed total system fonts to some funky font.
11. Always on display
12. Edge screen
13. 3600 mah battery

I will add some more if i forgot somthing

And i wanna brag about my home screen.

Re: Switch to Apple from android

With the release of the S7, I'd like to put my thoughts out there. My very first phone was an entry level android phone, Samsung Galaxy Y, which was a variant in South Asia only. I really liked that phone but decided to move onto something better. I bought the Sony Xperia P, and boy did I love it. I used it for a couple of years until the Galaxy S5 came out. At this point I was a die hard android fan and wouldn't even consider Apple. But, I found that I needed to buy the 7500 mAh Zerolemon battery for the Galaxy S5 soon enough. I would get around 2 hours of battery life on it and it was brand new. Apart from that the performance was terrible. It was always laggy, got extremely hot and even YouTube would not work properly. I could not just open up an app and do something on it. But, I eagerly waited for the S6. I bought the S6 edge and boy was it any better? The phone would burn a hole through my hand. But, here's the catch. Not only was I getting around 3 hours of battery life upon little to no use I couldn't even switch the battery. So when Apple announced the IPhone 6S I saw the specs and took my chance. I was on a contract and couldn't get out but I managed to use a T-Mobile representatives mistake for my benefit. I thus switched from android to Apple and I can't tell all you die hard android fans what you're missing. Not only does it not get hot, the battery actually lasts. You can connect it to a low voltage source and it'll still charge fast enough unlike Samsung phones which kept draining even if it was connected. The phones performance is lightning fast and there's never any lag. I am writing this in hopes all you android fans give Apple a shot if you suffer the same fate as I did.

Did you even try to get the issue resolved or did you just say, screw it..I'll just complain about it.

I've been an Android guy for YEARS. I prefer Android so I'm not really invested in Apple. I just got fed up with the Android options late last year and went to a 6s Plus. But now I'm bored. And the S7 edge is so good looking. I'm switching to it ASAP.

Re: Switch to Apple from android

@ Shabab Huq1 - That definitely sucks the issues you had. The S5 wasn't exactly the "best" phone. If you were to get a phone that came out around the same times as the 6S for iPhones I believe you would have a different experience. I have a Nexus 6P and now a S7 Edge and the battery life is immaculate. Marshmallow really helped when it came to battery life since Android is being more aggressive about background tasks. It isn't as strict as Apple but they definitely made improvements.

I am a phone enthusiast so I have tried Apple. I rocked an iPhone 6 Plus when it first came out for a little while just to try Apple (and because the phone was no longer super tiny). It worked .. It was nice but definitely not for me. I like having options for many things on my phones and Apple doesn't allow that. They allow you to install an app and use it whereas Android has themes, customization, and other things that add that "flavor" I love so I will be sticking with them.

Glad you're enjoying your iPhone though. You may want to visit our sister site (iMore | The #1 site for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and all things Apple!) for all things Apple related. They also have a forum as well just in case you needed help / wanted to talk to other iPhone peoples :).

Not a Galaxy S7, but I switched to a new Nexus 6 a few days, mostly for the bigger screen.

Unfortunately not for me :/

I waited so long for my T-Mobile pre order and I really thought this may be the phone that kept me from the iPhone because it's gorgeous but - two major things that didn't work well for me:

1 - battery life was absolutely horrendous. Way worse than I thought it would be. Gave it s few days. Didn't get any better. Insane to me that a battery that big is that bad. Iphone 6s plus is way stronger here.

2 - accidentally touching the edge screen. I thought they would have calibrated this a bit better. I was always accidentally touching something or unable to touch what I wanted to because my fingers were wrapping around. Don't tell me a case would fix it. I don't use cases. I don't like them and a case shouldn't have to make the phone work well.

Sorry Samsung, back to apple again for now.

Re: Unfortunately not for me :/

My new silver Edge out of the box had a blown speaker. Now, my black (all they had) is glitchy and sluggish. Also, my battery has been very bad as well. Funny thing is, I have notifications turned off, no apps running, and my battery drained 21% last night while sleeping. The edge screen hasn't been an issue for me, but the screen locking up, hesitating, pausing, and apps being slow to load have been very disappointing considering the internal specs. This is my first Android and I had high hopes. I am afraid that I am back to Apple as well.

Re: Unfortunately not for me :/

Not using a case either and did have unexpected touches the first day. After that I got used to it and don't have those touches anymore, its just getting used to an edge screen.

I have an s7 edge. No issues at all. Battery is wonderful. The phone was taken off the charger at 6 a.m. it's now 952 p.m. and I'm at 75%

I also have a 6s plus. And the s7 camera is 10x better then the 6s plus.
I enjoy both iPhone and Android.

Re: Unfortunately not for me :/

Sucks you guys experienced that. That's night-and-day different than those of us who have had good experiences with the device. Perhaps replacing the phone would have helped.

I have a gold T-Mobile S7 Edge that I got on launch day. It's been terrific so far. I took the phone off the charger at 9:30 a.m. It's now 10:07 p.m. and I have 46% left after a day of moderate usage. I also keep the always-on display on.

I hope I don't start experiencing some of the negative stuff some others have, but from my experience literally every single OEM on every single OS has bad batches.

Re: Unfortunately not for me :/

reset the phone. wipe the cache. always. before using any android device even if it's new

Re: Unfortunately not for me :/

Fat fingers? Lol.. no but seriously, I had the same problem with the edges, very sliperry but is all about getting used to the phone. Plus I got a neo hybrid case, and problem solve. Actually, I don't want this baby naked..

Re: Unfortunately not for me :/

It's ok. It's not for everyone and that's what the return period is for.

I am a bit perplexed by your poor battery life, though. I have a S7 edge and an iPhone 6s Plus (best battery life ever in a phone) and the S7 edge is nearly as good as the iPhone. They are both nothing short of phenomenal so something must have been up with your phone.

I'm using the phone without case and its working fine man. Battery life is awesome, i'm not sure why you having that issue. See screen capture.

Re: Unfortunately not for me :/

No real complaints here. I'm on my first full day, at more than 13 hours with 44% of battery left, and more than 4 hours of SOT.And this is while downloading and installing all of my standard apps. Best battery life, so far, of any phone I've used.

I haven't accidently activated the edge screen yet. There's an update in the Samsung store. Have you applied it? You might find a thin case will help prevent that if you continue to have the problem.

That's a risk you take buying any new hardware close to launch. I bought the S7E gambling that I'll get a launch gem. I've had launch day iPhones turn out defective. Give them a few months to work the kinks out.
