Nearly fainted..phone dead

Woke up this morning checked out the news on my phone, got ready for work, get phone out and it is dead . Tried every button, plugging in, reset. Nothing. Finally took the battery out and let it set.
Rebooted and everything fine. Whew!!!

So what was the cause? Weird open app combination? Nothing wrong with it now I hope. This has happened to me one time in six months. Thank god for a removable battery, that fixed it for me as well.
