T-Mobile users make sure you're using a 5G SIM card.

This was my experience as well. Got charged 10 bucks for both mine and my wife's cards
I'm going find out what they say with this link , maybe get a credit. It was more insulting to me then anything else especially calling customer care, I can understand the regular store .

I got my order done through their FB messenger chat. Not only did they overnight it with no charge, they replied with...

"You should be receiving the confirmation of the order for your new SIM within the next hour.

If you have any additional concerns, please let us know here in T-Force. We're here to help, 24/7 I'll be sending you a text with my name, and personal guarantee, so you know who took good care of you. Thank you for your time, efforts, and for being the best part of T-Mobile. My goal was to resolve your initial concern, and provide you with good customer service. The kind you tell your friends and family about. Would you say I accomolished that for you today?"

I am not sure why some representatives are giving people a hard time about getting a replacement SIM or playing games with charges and credits.

I went through chat a week ago and they sent the wrong SIM card, the 2015 card. So, tonight I contacted T-Force through Twitter, merely mentioning I had requested the R15 to get SA 5G and was sent the wrong SIM card, and they are sending me the R15. Like others, while they had to charge me for the card, they issued an equal credit on my account (the $10 + tax). Even better, I did not need to ask for the credit, they told me they would issue the credit because they had no way to waive the $10 fee on the SIM card.

I was all for 5G till reality set in that for the most part it's solving a non-existing problem if you're in an area with LTE.

It's solving a problem, the carrier's needs for more and more cash from their customers lol. Whether it helps or hurts is irrelevant as long as the cash flow increases :-[

What or how does tmobile show this additional charge for 5G on their bill? What do they label it as? I want to make sure I see it on my next bill.

I'm going find out what they say with this link
They might argue that they only meant no extra monthly cost, but what they said is no extra cost. Plus, in the very next sentence, they list the three things you need, including the new sim card, which implies that the no-cost statement applies specifically to the sim card as well.

I finally got my R15 sim card today. I installed it, called T-Mobile to activate it, and then found that I'd dropped from 5G down to 3G! It took an hour of working with a tech rep (fortunately a 'specialist', not a first-tier rep) to get back to 5G.

What was the issue?

Unclear. We tried a bunch of things. The technician is express-shipping me a 2nd R15 sim card (free) in case this one was defective. But if no further problems develop for the next few days, it's probably fine as is. They're going to call me back next week to follow up.

I guess new features take a little while to get working, especially for early adopters who take the initiative without waiting for T-Mobile.

It's not so much as getting more cash from existing customers as it is convincing people to switch carriers by claiming they have the best coverage.
