It's my understanding that the current $79 Samsung Smart Dock is compatible with the Note III.

Since the Note III supports the new USB 3.0 interface, it seems logical that Samsung would release an updated dock that would take full advantage of this. Does anyone have knowledge of such a dock being developed?

I'm interested in using my N3 to replace my HTPC (which is just a Dell laptop). It seems that the SmartDock will allow this with the HDMI out, and USB ports which I plan to use with my wireless Microsoft Desktop (keyboard/mouse with USB) and an external HD.

I also understand that it will be helpful to install an app to allow the home screen to run in landscape mode, which I've already solved with Apex.

I'm trying to decide if I should buy the currently available Smart Dock, or wait for an update. Suggestions?

I got the Samsung usb3 note 3 desk dock. They didn't even provide a cable with it, and when I plugged one in and attached it to the computer I found it was just a charging port on the dock, no way of even reading the Note 3 as a drive through it.

Hi jikoth, I bought two Samsung multimedia smart docks, one for my Note 3 and one for my Note 2. As you mentioned, the Note 3 works well with the smart dock, check out the demo here on youtube:



Even though the Note 3 works with the smart dock, I found that all things being equal, the Note 2 worked best with the smart dock. With the Note 2 there is a home option that allows you to return to the home display screen, which I found useful. I haven't heard that they would make a Note 3 smart dock that takes advantage of the USB 3.0 yet?
