I am new to samsung & Android and still learning. Moved over from ios.
Some of my apps do not show the red icon on the App indicating how many messages I have or if I have received one. The apps that are not showing is Whatsapp, BBM and couple of others. My Facebook App show / indicates if there is something. What setting is it that I need to change to get the app to reflect if the App has received something.

I am on a different timeline although the least capable to help (I only tried FB in 2012) so: are you using their widgets? If not touch apps bottom right, find the widgets not apps tab, find the relevant choice of widget you like for FB etc, hold and move to a current or new homepage, site and/or resize etc. It should work straight away as they are downloaded with the app.
