Why doesn't my Note 3 recognize the original charger that came with the phone?

When I plug the power cord into the phone, the lightning bolt does not appear within the battery icon located in the top right corner of the phone. The icon is displayed with an "X" in the icon instead. The phone also displays a message that the charger is incompatible with the phone. But I am using the charger that came with the phone. Has anyone else experience this?

I have not, you are using the original wallplug AND cable?

If so, you should try a different wallplug, then cable, to figure out which part is broken.

If different wallplug AND cable don't fix it, try use a different battery.
