How Can I Automatically Remove A New Email Notification?

Automatically Remove New Email Notification

I'm using 5.0 on Note 4.

When I receive a new email, it shows in the Notification window. If I go check the email and read it, the notification is still there. Does Android not know that I read the email and that the notification can go away?

I'm sure I am using it wrong, but it should be smarter. If it alerts me of something, it should know that I responded and read a text, checked an email, view who I missed a call form, etc. Instead, the notifications stay there and I have to manually clear them out.

It's not a difficult task but I'm sure this is something that others have resolved and I want to do the same thing.

Thanks!

Re: Automatically Remove New Email Notification

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using the stock Email app? Which email provider is it? If you happen to have Gmail set up on the stock Email app, then the notification you see might be from the Gmail app, which would remain there if you're only checking the stock Email app. The notification would go away if you checked that email in the Gmail app.
