 I have run into a few GN4 owners this past year of which ALL OF THEM have Crash/Reboot issues
In most use the Wakelock/CPU Lock app to counter the problem.
But so far have not met one person free of these problems after Marshmellow Update.
Before the Update, the GN4 was a Dream Device to behold! :)
I've done everything a person could do under the dire circumstances,
Emailed, Phone Called Samsung/T-Mobile, Wrote in various Forums to complain,
I did it all except get a different smartphone in which I do not want to do considering
How NEW this phone is?
I wish I had left Jellybean on my Note4!
But that isn't the fault of the vast Samsung Customers who Updated?
I didn't get the Note5 because was not worth the money versus Note4,
I refrained from getting the Note7 for same reasons and Glad I did! ;)

The new Samsung Galaxy S8+ is an okay device with new technology I like!
But not enough to throw my Note4 into the waste bin?
I holding out for the Note8 :D
I hope I'm mildly surprised at that point.
I'm so dependent on the S-Pen that will be difficult for me to switch to another type of smartphone?
I don't know if there are any Note4 owners that don't have the Crash/Reboot issue?
But if there are?
Would like to hear specifics about how their GN4 is setup.
Maybe another look at this might find a solution?

Replace with a new battery all will be good. Mine ( both batteries)😂 seem to have some kind of memory and once they went below 70% it would freeze and reboot. Since I purchased a new battery all problems seem to disappear.

My GN4 would periodically restart (1-2 times a day) for no apparent reason after I updated to Marshmallow. After I completely wiped my SD card the random reboots went away. I'll get 1-2 a month now max.

I've done all the New Battery replacements, did the Hard Reset reinstalations.
I'm on my THIRD NOTE4 Insurance replacements!
I have Three New Batteries for which the only viable fix is Wakelock/CPU Keep Awake!
If I deactivate the CPU Keep Awake?
Crash/Reboot begins again.
If I use Camera more than three pictures will freeze or Reboot
I even tried Stock Factory apps with no additional apps
Other than CPU Awake

Yes!, Jellybean for the fact no Crash/Rebooting was found
What good is Marshmellow if it constantly Crashes/Reboots?

I've come to the conclusion this is 100% Firmware issue.
I've been to multiple GN4 forums reading/posting same complaints.
No permenant solutions found.

All the people I have met with GN4's are with same Crash/Reboot circumstances.
I wish I had met one who didn't?
It might have given me confidence for a solution to be found?
If you happen to be lucky GN4 doesn't have these issues?
It just might be a factor in Luck?
In I don't believe in Luck?
But don't have anything else to fall back on?

I rarely have this problem. I restart every morning and then again in the afternoon if performance starts degrading. My opinion is that it's past time to upgrade. I was about to grab a N7, but we all know that story. I'm hoping to keep my N4 going until the N8 is available.

Then you've met one.

Right here. I HAVE had an app crash (Firefox), but not the entire phone into a re-start or lock up.

Software version: N910PVPS4DPK1
Hardware Version: N910P.05
Android 6.0.1
Kernel: 3.10.40-9120850
Build: MMB29M

Kernel is dated Nov. 2. I DO, however, have a security update that I refuse to install, because it works that well. But the phone isn't flawless. I bought it on launch day (Oct. 2014), and it's been great, but after over 2 years, my screen is starting to "burn in". At the top.

Sorry to hear about your issues. My stock Marshmallow Sprint GN4 is running just fine. Every now and then a monthly firmware update creates an issue (overheating) but a battery pull and wipe partition cache solves it. I do have the odd wifi drop to LTE and it is sometimes slow to connect to Bluetooth but I am very happy overall. Out of habit I do the periodic factory reset to be safe and it helps clean the junk out of my phone and forces me to clean up my apps. As long as I get the security updates, I am keeping my replaceable battery, IR remote capable GN4. I hate the iPhoned sealed battery forced obsolecence money making feature of the new Samsungs....

Same here am waiting for Note 8
It's just a shame for Note 4 isn't the problem?
It's the upgrade.
Otherwise, could make a case to keep it for replaceable battery.
I have three batteries after all?

I may try to flash a Custom ROM?
I just don't want to lose features in which usually happens with custom ROM's?
I also don't need a sealed phone like iPhone?
What's the point as many users use cases? I do as well.
My phone works great until it goes thru Crash/Reboot?
Other than that don't have any complaints.
Maybe a ROM flash might make it worthwhile if Note 8 doesn't warrant the added expense for a mediocre list of features.
Note 7 didn't have the IR remote in which I use on occasion.
Not a deal breaker if it doesn't? But hate when less doesn't justify added expense?
6 gigs of memory might make me forget?

ATT Note 4, stock, 6.0.1 (SPL 8/1/'16). Original battery. I rarely have to restart the device.
At this time, I have not tried to install an SD card.
This is a spare device I bought a few months ago. The story was that it was 1 1/2 yrs old, and spent one year on the shelf.
It spends most of its time at home as a couch pet now.
I have no crashing or rebooting.

Note 4 for 18 months. Original battery, new sd card, all the updates, no crashes, no reboots.
Now I've jinxed it.
