Why are my text messages-Note5- being sent to Email when I'm using the Samsung text message feautre

I have 218 text messages sent to my msn email address. All have a null sender and incorrect send date-12/31/1969-BIZARRE!!. This occurs every time I send a text message. There's a persistent and annoying notification that I'm unable to rid even when changing it in main settings menu! I did unsubscribe to the integrated Verizon Messages app. I'm very much a novice Note5 user. It was setup on 12/12/2015. At this point I'm VEXED and annoyed at the persistant notifications from an UNKNOWN source and the piling up emails. Can anyone help this NOVICE in distress?!
