For those posting Note 8 pics, you're awesome! If you hate me, but still post those pics, you're awesome! Or you block me and even curse at me, but still post pics, your awesome! Thank a zillion times over!

Re: Got my hands on the note 8

What case did you order?

If I get one...I think I'm getting the Beetle pro?

Beetle Pro... great choice! Been running them on Note 5, 7, S7 Active and will probably do my Note 8 as well! I drive a Ford F350 Super Duty and the case reminds me of my truck! Built Ford Tough!

Thank You to all the pic contributors, It's good to see them side by side. I uncased my S8+ and put it in my Note 8 Tough Armor case to see how it compared.
-it seemed like there was about 1mm side slack space and about 2mm vertical slack space.
-I also notice that all Ports/Buttons are nearly identically placed.

Cheers,
BR

Re: The back isn't slick

I cannot even imagine what it would cost to replace a screen on this Beast I've already ordered my first case which I should get probably by Saturday that thing's not going anywhere without protection

I have had broken screens (not fun at all). I now always have a case on my phones from the time they are un-boxed.

Cheers,

With your hands on on the colors, did the all black feel "huge and monolithic/intimidating" next to the gray? And did the gray seem "light gray" "dark gray" or "changes colors depending on how you tilt it?"

I'm VERY torn on which color to go for! Currently have a black Note 5, but that was a special color because it was really blue more than black, and nice and metallic. I'd like to go for different, so gray would be different, but yet, in some ways piano black is the more different one.

But my other consideration is...this is a huge phone. Which is less intimidating to whip out in public? I'd guess the gray. Unless it's light colored and thus draws attention to itself. :)

I hear ya I was sitting at the pre order flipping back and forth - gray - black... again and again. I decided on the gray because I've always had black phones - every single one. Plus it's going in a case. Just wanted something different. Plus, out of the actual colors, it looks the best IMO.

Actually, what is funny is my Spigen Slim Armor CS came today and I got it in Orchid Gray LOL.

Haha, yeah. For me, I've had a white S3, and a white S5 because that's all that Sprint had available at the time, but I kept the in Pebble Blue cases. So getting the black Note 5 when I went unlocked was a big deal. BUT it's technically blue even though it says black. And it has a silver aluminum frame.

So in some ways the black Note 8 is the same because it's another black phone, in other ways it's different because I really had a deep blue phone with silver edges in a Spigen Ultra Hybrid clear case. Meanwhile Orchid Gray has silver edges (and the back can look silvery in some lighting in some videos I think) so in some ways the silver edges will make me think it's my Note 5 :P

So if I go black it's another black phone, if I go orchid it's another silver edged phone :P And another silver spen instead of the black spen.

And it's all silly because I'll be putting it either in a Spigen clear ultra hybrid (love the case but the edges yellowed), or a Hybrid Neo that's all black anyway. (Or the orchid one that's black with orchid banding :) )

Still cant decide at all!

I don't think it changed much depending on how it tilted and I would say it was like a medium gray, a little bit blueish... the black didn't feel huge or intimidating to me at all... it's actually smaller than my V20 in the UAG case I have on it. Both width and height-wise... and that's a 5.7" phone.

Re: The back isn't slick

I agree. But I drop my phones. It's happened before. And considering this thing is mostly fragile screen, it's going to be interesting to see how these things hold up. Anyone seen any drop test?

I checked out both colors at my local Verizon the other day. I pre-ordered the black because I thought the gray had a little purple tint to it based on images on the Verizon and Samsung website, but in real life it looks more gray

Good to know. Also, did it seem "mirror-like" at all? Some of the You Tube videos showcasing colors made it look less gray and more silver, and very mirror-like reflectivity. Your photos don't seem that way.

Between the two is one a bit more "blend in with the crowd" that the other? If the gray is silver-reflective it might draw attention. OTOH the monolithic black despite being black, is a very uniquely black color that might draw attention more than the average "black, but it's really dark gray" phone.

If there's one thing I don't want to do with a $1000 phone is draw attention to it ;)

Honestly, I think the color does not matter, the size alone is likely to draw attention on it's own ;) I always have a case on my phones so color is less relevant. That Said, I went with Black..
