I just tested this out at my local Best Buy. My Note 8 S Pen not only fits in the note 9 it also works with it and was interacting with it. See below. Now personally if I wanted to get extra pins I would get the ones set for the note 9 but this is a good thing to know.

If I use my S-Pen from my Note 8 and use it on the screen will it still write yellow? Mind you I have the Black Note 8. And I'm assuming that the Bluetooth does not work with old pens on the N9?

I just chose the shade and the line thickness, and the pen type, so that it was easily readible posting on here.

Really wow thats pretty cool that it does this with the Note 8 pen
I was surprised as well. I'm glad Ihad the display model to test it on. I wouldn't have tested it with a new NOte 9 that I'd purchased lol.

Personally, I would just use Note 9 pens on the Note 9, but I'm just very cautious typically with my devices.

The pen technology is the same so there isn't any reason the inking function wouldn't work. Its possible the low power Bluetooth functionality could work on the Note 8, but you would have no way of charging it. Obviously, using the Note 8 pen would lose the LP Bluetooth functionality.

why would it not just 'work' since a pen that you would buy would work just fine. Note 8 and Note 9 are virtually the same

They're available for $32.99 on mobilefun. Less than the older S Pen replacements from Samsung or a carrier.

Mobilefun seems to be offering all four colors. I just can't decide which color would look best with blue. Blue woulda been my 1st choice...

I wonder when this will be available to purchase. Since the phone doesn't officially comes out until next week.
