I just updated my Galaxy s10 to android 10 and first thing i do is turn on dark mode :) Then i notice my wallpaper is kind of dull and washed out. I re-applied the wallpaper and colors went bright again but then 10 seconds later it turned dull. I turned off dark mode but problems till there. I tried turning on dark mode and turn on apply to wallpaper and the colors are kind of better but still not clear. I've looked around samsung forums and reddit and most people are saying it's night mode problem (I think they mean dark mode) but that doesn't fix it. I've also found similar problems on older phones like the s7 after an update and most solutions say to factory rest :(

Any ideas before I factory kill it?

Welcome to Android Central! I'd hold off on a Factory Reset for the moment - perhaps other users will chime in soon with solutions.

Just a shot in the dark here - but have you tried changing the Screen Mode from Normal to Vivid; or vice versa? Maybe that will help with the dulling effect.

I have an S10 and have received the Android 10 update, but haven't switched to Dark Mode yet. Perhaps I'll try that and I'll keep you posted on what happens. Keep us posted, too!

Yeah tried changing the screen mode but still have the issue with both settings. Holding out on factory reset for now...

It could very well be an update bug that may be fixed with with an upcoming update - which is too bad, as Dark Mode is a beloved option.

Have you tried playing around with the size of your wallpapers to see if a change in image size does anything to affect the quality of the image? Is the wallpaper in question an image you took using your phone's camera?

Mate good job! The photo I was using was from my SLR so I tried using a photo shot with the phone camera and bam issue didn't happen. So then I thought maybe it's an issue with the photo size so I edited my photo and cropped it first, saved it, then set it as home wall paper and it's not happening. Definitely some kind of bug due to the possibly photo size or dimensions. Hope this helps someone else out.

I'm so glad you got it sorted out! Yay!
