My wife has a Galaxy S3 with AT&T with some issues that causes her much distress . . .

First problem: When the phone rings, the screen stays dark. The only way to answer it is to press the lock or home button, illuminating the display, swipe to unlock, press the phone app, and then she can answer the phone. I suspect it is a setting that she inadvertently changed, but I don't know where to look. Internet searches for a solution indicate it could be a notification setting or power saving setting, but I'm not sure if I would recognize a wrong setting if I looked right at it.

Second problem: Sometimes the screen will be illuminated and unlocked, but the touch screen is unresponsive. To recover, pressing the lock button turns off the display and then pressing the lock or home button illuminates the display. Swipe to unlock, and all is working again. Again, my research leads me to think it is a power saving setting, but I don't know what to look for.

Any insight to help resolve these issues would be greatly appreciated.
