Data Recovery Broken Screen

Hello all, i recently got back from vacation and wouldn't you know it the screen on my galaxy s4 broke the next day. The phone will power on, it makes the samsung sound, and the bottom keys along with the LED indicator light up, but there is nothing except a few fuzzy lines across the screen. My question is, how do i get my pictures and videos that were saved to the hard drive off the phone? I tried plugging the phone into my mac, but nothing shows up. The phone is locked with a swipe pattern. These pictures mean a lot to me, i appreciate the any help.
