How can I use Google TTS

Ever since I bought my S4, I've been struggling to get S Voice to use something, anything other than the stupid robotic voice it comes with. I found a nice voice on the Goigle TTS options list, but S Voice doesn't use it when I select it through "Language and Input". This is incredibly frustrating, because my aunt (who also uses an S4) tried the exact same thing, and it worked. I tried Dragon Mobile, but they use their own voice sets too, and I don't lije any of them either. I'm currently on KitKat 4.4.4 running the Apex Launcher instead of the standard one. Can anyone help me out here, or at least suggest an alternative that uses the OS text-to-speech setting?

Have you tried Google now launcher??

I've grown a bit attached to Apex, but I'll try it out.

Tried it, didn't change the TTS.
