I have the Verizon Galaxy S5, SM-G900V running Android version 4.4.4. The phone has started to slow down so I looked into the storage. Here are two screenshots:

How can Applications (18.61 GB) be larger than Total space, (16.00 GB) yet there is still 5.66 GB available? The application manager also shows 6.1 GB available in device memory. Does anybody have any knowledge of what could be causing this and/or what I might to do fix it? Thanks!

First thing I would do is power it off, let it set a minute.

Then hold down Volume UP and Power Button together until it boots and you see Blue Menu.

release, use Vol buttons to navigate, select Clear Cache Partition.

totally safe, will not loose any data.

is a good first place to start with weird problems.

reboot and then test the phone.

I suspect both of your problems will go away at the same time.
