Find My Phone

I lost my phone today and could not remember where I put it. I have read that I can type 'find my phone' on google but the ring feature doesn't work for some reason. I've tried the ring feature on silent, vibrate and ring tone on full volume but it will not ring. If not is there another app that's better? Or is my phone just having issues?
I want to prevent a mini heart attack if I forget where I left my phone.

you need to have data on and location on for that find my phone thing to work

Two things, first make sure Android Device Manager has administration rights on your device or it can't control your device. Second, as mentioned above, you phones data has to be on for it to communicate with ADM via the web. You must have location turned on for the locate device feature to work.

Also, I like the Samsung software better than Google's.

Perhaps someone could correct me but I'm sure find my phone doesn't work unless your phone is turned on and to me that makes it fairly useless?

Made an account online but I don't see the settings anywhere on my sprint s6.
Edit, called Samsung and the find my phone option is somehow missing from my phone.
