Are the S7 phones unlocked?

A

AC Question

I was reading about the "they're unlocked until you put a carrier sim in it" and was curious if I ordered a phone from AT&T, told the people at the store don't put the sim card in, and pop in my Verizon Sim card, would it work fine on Verizon? Similar to how apple and nexus... or am I completely wrong?

Probably curious why would I order from AT&T vs Verizon. Well, I don't have any upgrades on my Verizon account and I have an AT&T account for Tablets only.

No, they are not necessarily unlocked but will only work with specific carriers. It is my understanding that an AT&T S7 might work with a T-Mobile SIM as long as it was never used on AT&T. Likewise with Verizon and Sprint.

But ultimately you should buy the phone from the carrier you want. Unless you want to buy a global unlocked phone and use it on AT&T or T-Mobile.
