Ast time I used Nova was with Note 3 a few years ago.

Does Nova slaughter battery life since essentially two launchers always running? Maybe that's why I'm apprehensive

Nova's always ate up a bit more RAM than Action Launcher 3. At least from my experience. Battery life has been fine with both launchers.
