How can I tell if the GPS is locked when going for a run?

When you start a run in S health it just counts down and off you go. Every other smartwatch or fitness tracker lets you know if your GPS has picked up. Or is my GPS locked and I've not seen what happens when I don't have it locked.

I would check the S3 settings prior to going out on a run. By default the location service is turned off. You have the option to use GPS, wireless or both for location.

I'd turned it on, just went out for a run though and it didn't pick up at all. When the running app is on you get the small logo to show if you're connected to GPS (flashes if you're not). Problem is you don't get it when you're waiting to start or paused, so you have to stand there waiting for it to lock or run and not track. ****ty bit of design and completely impractical for timing races or anything.
I can now get it to lock when sat at home connected to my phone, will have another go tomorrow.

Location may turn on automatically if the S3 loses Bluetooth connectivity with the phone. That's what also triggers the LTE service. I guess I'll have to do some testing.

I don't mind S Health, in fact I really like the dashboard. I do wish that there was more integration with other services. I have it syncing with Google health but not My fitness pal yet.

Looks like the released a new SDK a few months ago so hopefully devs will have better API integration.
