Hello;

I am hoping someomne can help me. prior to having the Samsung S 5 I had a blackberry and you could enter in your voicemail password so each time you don't have to enter it manually. Does anyone know how to complete this with the Samsung S5. I have searched "Google" and not found anything. Tried "youtube" and could only find how to set up the voicemail which I know how to do. I am new to this forum

Thank you in advance to anyone you can help.:)

Welcome to Android Central! Open the Dialer, then press Menu, and look for Voicemail settings. There should be a setting somewhere that allows you to modify the number to call for voicemail. You could try adding one or two commas after that number (which are pauses), then your password. Some phones recognize a "p" instead of a comma for pause.

Thank you. Had set this up on my previous phone and had no idea what my vm password so had to reset and then go looking on how to set the auto password up on my new SG5 which I am totally loving.

Sure thing, and welcome to Android Central!

I tried to enter the P (pause) and it still is not working. Called Verizon to have them walk me through it and I was told they no longer offer the option to have my password automatic and i have to dial it in each time. What!!!

Someone evidently found a Verizon executive's phone, listened to his voicemail and he issued orders to turn the function off. (That's why the law still makes it illegal for police scanners to cover the old cellular band - a US senator's phone call was eavesdropped on.) We suffer because the people at the top think we're as stupid as they are.

I went thru the menu to add the ,,12345# and it looked like it was successfull. But it still did not work. Holding the 1 key still just dialed the *86. As a work around I just added a contact who's number is *86,,12345# and added it to speed dial. Works fine - still seems terribly un-necessary.

To add the pass word permanently, on the s4 go into settings, then my device, click on the call option. scroll down to voicemail settings and it gives you the option to edit the number
