Install 2.1 (w/o sense ui) rom on Sprint HTC Hero

Hello people! I have a Sprint HTC Hero and I absolutely hate it. I have a Pre but I lost the charger and decided to give the Hero and Android one last chance. So here I am. I really cant stand Sense UI. What I would really like to do is install a 2.1 rom like the Nexus One or a basic stock android os without Sense/motoblur or any of that. I can find anything, any help would be REALLY appreciated

sell the pre and the hero and buy a nexus one.

depending on what version you have and if you are rooted the i suggest gumbo 1.5c when you start the phone after you load the rom you get a pop up with the option for sense or the stock home
