Why won't my phone read my sim card when I turn it on?

My Phone Won't Read My SIM Card when I Turn It On

I have a Sony Xperia Z. I few days ago, I swapped my SIM Card for the first time. After that, every time I turn my phone on, I have to open call settings, otherwise the phone won't read the SIM Card. This happens with both of the SIM cards now. Before swapping the SIM Card, the phone recognized it as soon as I turned the phone on, but now I have to open call settings every time I turn the phone on. It recognizes the card as soon as I just open call settings. I don't understand why this is happening.

If by "reboot" you mean powering off and then powering back on, then yes, I have done that many times and this happens every time I turn the phone on.

OK, I read the instructions and did what they said, but it's still not fixed.

Could I have damaged the SIM cards while swapping them?

Not really sure what happened. I doubt the card is damaged--it wouldn't make sense for it to work normally as soon as you go to Call Settings. You might want to consider a factory reset.
