In-Store Launch Date: October 29, 2014

Pricing: $630

Model #: D6616

Network Bands Supported:
UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1700 (Band IV), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
LTE (Bands 2, 4, 12)

I kind of confused since not sure what the Band 12 LTE which is on T-Mobile and not on the 6603/6633!

If I purchase the 6603/6633 and it has two other LTE bands that T-Mobile uses; will it just switch over?

I see no advantage to buy the 6616 model; since it is branded and locked.
I don't think I will be using Wi-Fi calling option since it does not work for me on my Lumi 521.
What is the advantage of Wi-Fi calling anyways?

Also, I heard that you cannot delete the T-Mobile specific apps in the 6616.

So, is any advantage in getting the T-Mobile 6616 at all?

Canceled my T-Mobile order (backorder) today and went with eBay for a D6603. Saved myself $117 off the boat. So I don't see any advantage of getting the T-Mobile order here. I heard you get an incentive for a free game for PS4.

  • Generally T-Mobile is good about letting you uninstall their apps.
  • Band 12 is a new 700 MHz frequency T-Mobile is deploying to improve their coverage, it would be wise to get it.
  • The T-Mobile version has 32 GB, which is a lot better than 16 GB.
  • WiFi calling works wonderfully, I can't speak for Windows Phone, but it works quite well on modern Android devices. WiFi calling works where you don't have cellular signal, you make and recieve calls, and texts, over the WiFi. Works with most home and public WiFi networks, though some of the more locked-down corporate WiFi might block it.
  • T-Mobile will probably unlock it for you if you buy outright, and unlock codes are cheap anyway.

Frankly, if you want to use it on T-Mobile, the 6616 is THE one to get. Who cares if it's locked to T-mobile if that's where you're going to use it?

It would be more about versatility if looking at a bigger picture and wanting to change between providers in the future. Also if you want to sell it, it will be more difficult to sell it as buyers would look for the international.
