I have an LG Optimus S. The pictures in my Camera Roll mysteriously disappeared a few months ago. (Yes I know I'm that aggravating idi*t in the forum that didn't take precautionary measures of backing them up beforehand to prevent this). I plan on trying to recover them using a few methods I've seen online. (Any personal experience w/ this or specific suggestions/directions/websites/programs on how to go about recovering these pics are welcome & much appreciated). The question I have at hand though is…

I just got a new phone, (Samsung Galaxy 8). If I switch my service over now (from my Optimus S to my new Galaxy) BEFORE trying to recover the pics, will it effect the recovery of those pics in any way?

• The pictures were on my SD card.

• I did switch the SD card to my boyfriend's phone for a couple days.

I'm not familiar w/ recovering photos, but from what I've read they can end up in a invisible file/folder. I assume I'll be searching the SD Card for the lost pictures &/or invisible file/folder they may be in, & not the phone itself. With that being said,
1). Does the SD Card need to be in the *Optimus* phone when I perform the recovery? (If so, does the Optimus need to be in service for the recovery to work?)
2). Could the pics have ended up somewhere on mine or my boyfriend's *phone* when they disappeared, rather than the SD Card? (If so, does the Optimus need to be in service for the recovery to work?)

SD card has no bearing on network at all. It's simply external storage. Unless you encrypt the card, you should be able to "see" anything on it from any device. Try putting card into a computer, some have SD card slots and will readily accept cards.
Do not format the card for any reason as that will remove all media beyond recovery!
If you open your file manager and find settings, select show hidden files, that may be helpful.
If that fails, you may need a pc and some recovery software....
