Keeping! This has been the best performing phone I have had in a while.

Coming from a Blackberry... Yeah, I'm keeping this until the next Nexus device comes out or if the S3 is really amazing, I might consider it.

I am going to exchange mine. I have serious connection problems. I bought mine at Costco. I stopped by there the other day and asked the guy at the cell phone kiosk how many returns there had been on the Gnex. He said none. I told him about my phone. They had a couple of phones working, not just on display. We compared my Gnex to a Razr. The Razr had a 4g connection and was fast. My Gnex had no connection for data, it would not even load the Market. He said to get everything together that came with it and he would exchange it, the phone definitely had problems. I will be getting another Gnex, I really like this phone.

If verizon doesnt fix this signal issue im done. Its sad to see my friends connect to 3g with their vzw iPhones and never drop a call and here i am pulling my battery out and removing my sim card then putting it all back together to get data and clear calling.

I was pretty sure I would keep the phone when you put the poll up, but there were a few nagging issues that had me wondering if it was a good idea. Honestly, I couldn't come up with another phone I thought would be better anyway, so the chances of returning it were slim.

Since then I flashed a stock ROM on my original GN. It fixed my signal issues (mine wasn't handing off from 4g to 3g) but it keep rebooting itself and I still had Bluetooth issues. Still, the fresh ROM gave me hope, so about a week later, I exchanged my unit for a new one. Well, the second one worked better right out of the box. There were no signal issues and it didn't randomly reboot, ever! But it was still buggy and then yesterday Android OS ran most of the day for some reason and tore through my battery in about 8 hours of light use. I even did a battery pull and it didn't help.

This was the first time I had a battery issue with either phone, but my brother-in-law had this problem with his first unit. So I decided to flash my first developer supported ROM, Codename, on the GN last night. It's been running 22 hours straight, with no wifi all day, on 4g, with about 2.5 hours of Pandora on Bluetooth, plus voice calls and email. The battery still has 17% and none of the persistent bugs showed up!

So you can change my "undecided" vote to a "NO WAY!"

as far as I know, the 15 day/Jan 15 is if you want a no questions asked return because you don't like the phone, right?(and pay a restocking fee). But if the phone ceases to work properly, you have a year guarantee, right?
I want to give this a chance w/ updates, but if I get more and more data drops after a while, I'd try to return it as defective.

If this was another consumer item I'd return now, but l've spent so much time setting this phone up the way I want to, I don't want to start w/another unit.

FYI...my unit is ok 90% of the time...but I get the annoying data drop/gray bar crap every couple of days

A week ago I decided to return my GN. I rooted and changed the rom pretty quick after I bought it so I had to take it back to stock. Once back to stock my reception issues went away. Which is awesome because I was sad to give up this awesome phone. Now there is no way I will take back this phone. I wonder if I didn't have the right radios before I went back to stock.

so the question is if you are not skilled at rooting and doing all this, what happens? Wait for an update? Ask VZ to do something?

I walked in the day it went on sale and wasn't impressed. it felt too plasticy? and the speaker sounded weak. He even showed me a $100 unit I could plug it into for awesome sound. The call quality isn't up to par. Isn't that why we buy a "phone"? the camera is weak, the screen isn't that impressive in low light. and then theres the battery? I'm seriously considering the Razr Maxx with the big battery.
If you own one and love it then God bless. it just wasn't for me.

Based on my experience, I would say that most issues are software related. My signal issues were fixed with fresh 4.0.2 ROM on the first phone. The second phone was better out of the box. The custom 4.0.3 ROM seems to have cleared up the rest of my issues. That leads me to believe that the 4.0.3 update will clear up most of the big issues.

So if you really like the phone, wait for the update. If you still have issues then exchange it for another unit under warranty. If you are going to take that route, I would recommend contacting VZW by phone and explain your issues to a customer service rep. Tell them you are planning to wait for the update, but if it doesn't resolve your issues, you will be exchanging it for another unit.

thanks a lot . That's my plan. The phone is useable most of the time for most things. My first smartphone was a blackberry and I bought it because I hated touchscreens and the earlier versions of android.
Last year I played around w/some Droids etc, still hated using them. I had a Nook Color w/an android 2.3 "Nook to Droid" card, and really didn't like that. It was slow and clunky. I picked the GNEX up and it seemed much easier to use w/4.0. In fact, I find I'd rather surf the web on the phone then on my pc. now... so there's nothing else I'd want to buy now

Keeping mine too. Best phone I have ever owned, hands down...

It's a keeper. I didn't have signal issues on 4.0.2. With GummyNex 5.0 ICS 4.0.3 battery life is phenomenal along with better performance in general (Screen Rotation and such). The extended battery is a must, mainly because of the feel and better protection of the camera. Mods with my Inc was great but still had issues. I'm sticking with a phone that I know is designed to mod and know that corrections can be made easily. No more waiting months or never for updates.

I was ready to return the first few days I had it, however, this phone has grown on me to the point where I feel it is worth keeping. The biggest issue I had was the screen, which is horrible on auto brightness. It is a pain to constantly adjust, but I'll accept it and hope an update helps. I'd also like better battery life and again am hopeful an update helps. The last thing that convinced me to stick it out is Nova Launcher. It is a great addition to this phone. I'm sticking with the stock rom for now and the new launcher makes a huge difference for me.

This phone isn't perfect, but it is still very enjoyable for me.

Geeeeezeee. I have no idea what I'm going to do. I went and played with a Rezound for 30 minutes or so tonight, and think I could live with Sense and the slightly smaller screen. The biggest thing I want is the camera, though. The Nexus' isn't completely terrible, but the Rezound's is so so much better.

So right now I'm torn. They're both great devices, and I like them both. I'm finding it difficult to decide which one I want to spend the next year with. I miss the old days, when Verizon only had one or two great devices to choose from. :-\
