Great phone...

Can't stand the camera turning black and never opening every 45 minutes requiring a reboot.

Fixes? It's enough for me to return it.

This makes me feel good and bad. Good cause I like the phone, bad because I have to deal with Sprint people. And the fiasco that goes with exchanging it. So no one else has had this issue eh?

No, where was your phone manufactured? I'm curious as mines is Korean, IIRC, some folks with the chinese ones had issues.

Never had that issue. The only thing that drives me crazy about the nexus is the battery life and whenever I try to use my notification shade when I'm on a call.

If you like the Nexus I'd definitely exchange it as your unit is faulty. I've not "had" to reboot even once in the 2 weeks I've had mine. To be fair my first unit did die on me but my new unit seems to be doing just fine.

If you're having 2nd thoughts it seems the new Evo is set to be the new king for Sprint. Don't think anyone should be upset with either of these phones unless of course it's just a bad unit.

I'm not sure what to expect for battery life. It's better than what I got on my Epic so I'm not complaining. I picked up the spare battery and charger the other day so now I've got a spare if needed, it was a small price to pay for the added juice. Wish I had done this for my Epic cause I had to have a charger with me at all times it seemed.

The only Android phone with a battery worth a damn anyways is the maxx and I really was very close to going that route. I really hope the manufacturers start at least making decent options like the Max in the future especially if things continue to head in the sealed battery direction.

Honestly, if you take any time reading through the forums for both the Sprint and VZW GNex, you might be better off to return it and order an EVO LTE. The radio issues (3G, WiFi and GPS) are pretty substantial unfortunately cause a lot of us like the GNex aside from the radio issues. It sounds like yours is simply a faulty camera, but think about getting an EVO LTE instead since chances are HTC has better radios in ot list as other Samsung vs HTC CDMA handsets.

I would rather have the GNex, I like the clean design and pure ICS. But, it is going back. My two cents for you. Good luck.

Only problem I have ran into in the past on the Verizon Galaxy Nexus with the camera is if you leave the camera open and lock the device so the camera will be there when you were to unlock. I would sometimes have trouble with it locking on me and requiring a reboot.

As long as you did not lock on the camera app, never had an issue with the camera locking up and I take a lot of pictures. Not sure if custom Roms have fixed this issues but I believe it was a software issue and would happen to everyone. It would happen everytime, but it would eventually happen. Like I said, I am running AOKP and not sure if they fixed that issue as I just stopped locking the device while the camera is open.

And when I mean open, meaning you are taking pictures and just hot the power button before going to something else so the camera will be there when you unock.

I just tried locking the phone with the camera open on my sprint galaxy nexus and it looks like they fixed it so it does not lock up the phone and require a reboot. I am running stock 4.0.4 without root.

Sounds like that particular GNex is faulty, but please exchange it because it is a great phone to have even this late into it's life cycle .

Mine is Korean... Also, since I've posed this I haven't had the issue come back. Still thinking about taking it back and getting a new one.

No reboot issues needed, but haven't locked it with camera on yet. Battery life still sucks, have tried all the forum suggestions. Dropped it off at Sprint store just now to get battery tested(it was Korean, not Chinese). If battery is OK, may just pay up for the 3800 Seido when they come out with a Sprint specific one

I'm finally getting my nexus next week but before that I already bought the 3800 mAh battery from sedio. The battery fits the sprint and Verizon phones. I got it early cause I know I'm not going to like the battery life already from everything I have read plus with the 15% off coupon at shopandroid.com the total was 59 dollars I just couldn't pass it up :-)

Sprint store Cadex machine said battery was excellent...doh...I read on another thread you have to modify the Seido back a bit for the Sprint Gnex version...true?

I haven't heard that at all. The only mod for a battery I have come across is for the verzion extended battery 2100 I believe.

Galaxy nexus that was made in china got up to 20 hours of battery life and ones that was made in korea got 12 hours.

Is this a fact you are stating, by the way? Just wondering...

Not my experience. My Korean made Nexus gets 24 hrs + depending on usage. With moderate usage I still get 18 hrs, with very light usage I have gotten 36 hrs, with the average being 24.5 hrs. YMMV ;)
