1 month review of the S5 from an Apple guy......

Any of you having any issues with Bluetooth and your car compared to the iPhone? My iPhone is flawless as far as Bluetooth goes and I'm worried about the GS5.

Any of you having any issues with Bluetooth and your car compared to the iPhone? My iPhone is flawless as far as Bluetooth goes and I'm worried about the GS5.

Zero problems with mine I drive a Toyota, my iPhone 5s actually had a problem where it wouldn't remember which track I was on when I got in the car again, I even changed my iPhone still did it. My Galaxy S5 works perfectly just as my iPhone 5 did before I changed it to the 5s,

I too switched from iPhone, after using every iPhone and few androids over the years, i decided to give a go this year too.
Tried HTC m8, lg g3 and finally settled on s5, it is perfect device for me.( works perfectly with my samsung smart tv, i can see pics and video on big screen without any extra setup) I was surprised to see that sold my wife iPhone 5 and bought s5 with no additional penny, bought the phone brand new locked on network, paid 20€ online to get unlocked code and voila, with apple forget about it, unless you buy sim free from apple with big bucks.

Battery life is super great after few tweaks, Titanium to freeze bloatware, greenify to hibernate facebook and messenger ( battery hog ), from 3 a day charging my iPhone, i can last easily day with heavy use with battery still left.
also invested in samsung original battery charger pack 25£ so i have 2 full batteries at my hand all the time and can be swapped easily ( reason for this is i am too worried about breaking the fragile charger port cover).

iPhone i was always running out of storage ( 32gb ), unless you want to spend 100£ extra for gb , now i have 16 + 32gb ( card) for less money) which can be easily extended.

Apps are cheap and most of them free and love the fact you can download from google play store ( web ) and it is pushed to you phone, i can still track my wife iphone if needed for emergency with find my iphone app so it i handy.
love the customization , every thing is easily changeable , be it keyboard, sms app, transition, fonts etc.

Only thing i wish samsung improves is fingeprint scanner, it is still glitchy for one hand use, so i use pattern lock instead.

iMessage i don't miss as we have unlimited text plan, else there are lots of alternative watsapp, viber etc

Facetime, yeah i am still trying to find the alternative for this, heard handgout is good for ios and android video call but haven't given a go. ( Viber update their app with Video call, so that's gone too)

someone mentioned about bluetooth problem, works great here with my Parrot kit in car and music and call is crystal clear and takes less time to connect than iPhone.

anyone willing to move to dark side, changes takes time so give it a fair chance and you will never look back.

Thanks for your review. Sorry to hear that you're having so many problems with your device.

Can't say I've experienced most of what you describe but it is a shame.

Posted from my S5

Same here.

I've tried iPhone myself and there was so much I didn't like. It performed well but I am able to customize Android the way I prefer rather than being told its their way or the highway. Doesn't necessarily make Android better than iOS to everyone but its great to have options and choose the OS we prefer.

No issues on my 2012 Acura TSX w/ Tech Package.

Is your S5 rooted? Some of the apps you speak of look like they are for a rooted device.

Yes i rooted s5 because of full backup (Titanium) and App ops to block certain apps to access my location. , Greenify can be used on non-rooted phone as far as i am concern.

My buddy, a LONG time Apple user, switched to Android. He gave up on the "locked in" feeling of the IOS universe.

Comments like this just crack me up. Locked in? Lol. Proprietary for a reason. That's why their software is stable, rarely glitches, and just works. Don't read that as Android doesn't. Not starting an argument here, just sharing my opinion.

The staunch stances that people take between different Mobile OSes is insane. I love Android and iOS. I have such a hard time deciding between the two. Right now, it's Android. But once the iPhone 6 comes out, it very well may be iOS again.

iOS is far from perfect or glitch free, I'm afraid.

Notice how I said rarely........

In my experience, my S5 has glitched WAY more in the 1 month I've been using it than the 1 year I had my JAILBROKEN iPhone 5......

Actually, my S5 glitches daily. Very disappointing.

But I'm not going to argue with you about it. Have a great day.

I have to report that after removing and reinstalling FB messenger, it no longer lags. Works perfect.

I too just moved over to android after having iPhones for many years. I agree very much with the OPs review. I only switched over because I wanted to try something new. I'm hoping I won't regret it. It seems like a nice device.

The biggest test for me will be time. All my iPhones worked very well and had little to no issues. Each one i had for at least 2 years.

Of course another convienent thing was not worrying about getting viruses on the iphone. If this phone last 2 years with no issues, I'll be very pleased.

I am really having my doubts about getting the S5 after weeks of reading through the forums about all the things that don't work and all the suggestions about fixing them and I wonder why it has to be so hard to make some of the simplest request to just work the way that makes sense. Like sending photos with out having to back out of the camera app to do it and the limit on how many can be sent or why they are not sending. Oh so use this app or you have to go to settings and turn this on or......again why. Why can't the native app just work? Why do you have to try and install dozens of app from the play store? So many people say get rid of the iPhone and get an android because iOS is to restricted and your just isheep. You know maybe there is a reason apple does things their way. Yes there is less control of what you can do. Yes there are more limits. But in the end the over all experience in General is pretty predictable. It just works and works well. And for a majority of people who don't want to have to spend months tweaking a phone that should just work they are better off with an iPhone. And now I'm reading about a carrier update that is causing troubles with phones. When does it stop.

I don't have any of these problems you speak of.

Out of curiosity how is it that there are pages of complaints on all those topics and yet you can say you have none of them. How are the rest of these people running into those problems?

Then stick with the phone that you are comfortable with. The solution to your issues is simple. #ijs

Of course you're going to read about problems. Not many people will make a post if everything is working perfectly. To me, the S5 is way better than any iPhone. I like all the settings and options. It's really not that hard to figure out how to get it to work how you want it to.

We'll I would like to give the S5 a shot and I thought that coming here on the forum would give me positive thoughts but I'm finding just the opposite. But what I really would like to know is how so many have so much trouble and some who say they have none. Is it just because they left the phone in its stock form with no mods?

You'll have that with any product whether it be a car, a phone etc... Just because it's the same phone doesn't mean it's going to act exactly the same. There are different versions of the S5. Different carrier versions, Exynos vs. Snapdragon ect... If you go on an apple forum, you'll see the same thing. Some people will be complaining that their brand new 5S is not connecting to WiFi while others have no problems at all.
