I preordered the TB Monday (my first android, cant wait) and I asked the girl about a 1 year contract. She said she didnt think so, but she would find out. I don't think I want a 2 year contract with all the cool stuff coming down the pipe. If Best Buy cant offer a 1 year, what are my options? Do you think Verizon will offer that on their site whenever they announce? Surely they will offer a 1 year. Thanks for the help.

My understanding is that Verizon is the only one that can do a 1-yr contract, and they can do online or in-store. If you can afford it, my recommendation would be to go for a 1-yr contract.

HMM, well that sucks, I am thinking as good as the TB is going to be, a one year only need to be signed. thanks for the help.

BB told me I could do a one year but the phone would be almost 200 more then for 2 year. Verizon is like 70 more.

I am going to try to get a 1 year from vzw but if best buy comes through on the 14th I will not hesitate to take a 2 year. I'm ready to ditch this captivate....

Agree. The buy back program will assist in my acceptance of the 2 year as if I switch out this $600 device around xmas I get close to half of full retail cost back which if I full priced a new phone around that it would be close enough to cost of a 1 year deal for that phone as well.

I guess I need to read-up on the buyback thing.

they give you 50% of retail cost on the phone after a year or they give you 50% of your contract price?

It's somewhere around 50% of retail from my understanding. Someone please confirm here.

Here's Verizon's statement on the NE2:

If you were enrolled in the program on February 15, 2009 or later, you are eligible for a credit of up to $30 or $50 depending on your plan, with a two-year renewal. If you were enrolled prior to February 15, 2009 and continue to meet the requirements of the program, you will qualify for a credit of up to $50 or $100, depending on your plan. In either case, you will be able to redeem your New Every Two credit one more time for an upgrade for up to six months from the New Every Two Redemption Date. After that time, you will not be re-enrolled.

Correct, our BBM manager said it was possible to do a 1 year, but the price on the phone goes dramatically up compared to Verizons 1 year price, if the phone is 249.99/2 year then it will most likely be 449.99/1 year.
