now that you all have had a chance to hold it for a while, anyone looking to downsize? i thought i might find this clumsy or wear on me after all day round trip air, along with long car rides in between, but turned out pretty good. i thought maybe holding out for the upcoming 8.9in, but not so much now.

anyone else?

Too big for to be truly portable, but I would have kept it if it didn't have as many issues as none had.

It's the right size for me. I wanted something close to the screen size as my laptop, but not quite as big.
I won't be walking around town with a tablet, because my phone serves me just fine while on the go.

I thought exactly the same thing but I am quite satisfied with this size now that I have it. To me, 8.9" isn't much more portable. Neither fit in your pocket. Both need to travel in a bag of some sort. It's certainly not bulky or heavy. Aside from software glitches, it's just right.

Yes...my thoughts exactly. It's for chilling on the couch. Nice and light with great battery life. My Macbook doesn't even come out of my work bag on weekends anymore.

Agreed. I was going to hold out for the 8.9, but after playing with the 10.1 at a local BB I had to have it. The screen real estate is perfect for web pages and HD YouTube vids look fantastic... The bezel is the perfect size and its very usable one handed while in portrait. The tab is very capable of work related tasks while on the go and I couldn't be more pleased. Now I just need to find a case for it that's as sexy as the brushed gray exterior :)

i got the touchpad to play with for a few days and it's a little smaller screen wise (not the wide screen). not so sure i'd go smaller than the tab 10.1, unless the tab 8.9 has a notable differentiator.

The size is perfect for me. I had the XOOM and while they are the same screen size, that is where the similarities end. The Tab's physical dimensions make it such a joy to use and I feel the 8.9 will be too small to enjoy watching a full-length movie on. I like the 10.1" screen for browsing, as well. I have a 4.3" smartphone, so I would like my tablet to have a bigger screen that 8.9.

Like many of the other posters here, I did have some concerns about the size originally but because of how thin and light this tablet is, 10.1 really feels like the perfect size. Plenty of screen real estate for reading, games, and movies. Also it's almost the exact same size as the medium notepad (paper) that I bring to meetings at work, making it perfect to take to meetings to view Powerpoint/Excel docs. Heck, even with the book cover on it, it's still thinner than the notepad!

Nope. I was previously of the thought that a 10in pad was too big. However, i based this off the ipad that is a different form factor. The wide screen tab has provlen perfect for me.

my tab is just fine. im balanced i have a 7" pb and a 10.1 tab. the pb is with me were ever i go as a portable device because its small and because i have a bb phone the bridge browser because its free until at&t catches me. when they do im going to pressure them to let me upgrade early. the tab is great for laying in my bed reading, playing games, and stuff. the tab is fine, its nice and light because samsung fill it with heium.
