$100 off Samsung GT 10.1 at Staples

Not to vear too far O/T but shopping at BB can be a real PIA. I bought my GT 10.1 there and paid cash. When I went to return it they would only give me a store credit or an IOU for a check in 10-14 business days. They cited an unwritted store policy about not refunding cash payments that large.

Of course, I proested and said I shouldn't be forced to purchase $500.00 worth of goods at BB with a store credit nor should I have to walk out of the store without my actual refund. If BB filed bankruptcy before my refund was received in the mail I would be SOL, not to mention they are keeping the interest on my money.

We avoided a battle because they had the iPad2 I wanted in stock and I did an exchange.

Thanks to the Staples $100-off coupon, I am now the proud owner of the Galaxy Tab 10.1! I was not sure how I would feel about it, however so far LOVE IT!

I live in Minnesota. It was not easy finding a Staples store that had any in stock. I ended up driving to a store about 80 miles away to pick one up, as one of the managers was kind enough to put it aside for me. I did try the competitor angle at near-by Best Buy and Office Max stores, however they were doing everything possible to not give the $100.

I think I read this in their return policy on bestbuy.com...anything over $200 comes as a check.

I went to a Staples in KC and they were out of stock. We found one at another location, problem was that store was a 45min trip one way. I read that Best Buy would not match this coupon but faced with a crying baby and a hour and a half road trip I called them and explained my situation. They originally said they would not price match because Staples was out of stock but when I told them that another Staples had some in stock they agreed to price match. Sounds like it's completely up to the store manager, just call ahead and see what they say. Worked for me.

This is what bothers me more than anything else. And it's the general attitude I've received from Best Buy about the issue. "It's up to each store..."

It shouldn't be that way. They have a policy that they advertise as a benefit of shopping there. And they'll only honor it if the store manager is in the mood to honor it that particular day? How do you get to be a big corporation operating like that? I mean how do you even stay in business more than a week?

I was able to find Best Buy's corporate email list, I sent a rather long email to one of the execs on the list, we'll see if I get a response. If not I'll just keep escalating it up the list until I get to the CEO.

I shouldn't have to. Best Buy advertises their price match and they should honor that...

Update on my issue. After speaking with the head store manager he said he would call Staples and verify the deal with them directly, if they verified it he would price match for me. When he called me back he said Staples verified the price and that he would price match it, but because they don't have any tablets in stock he wouldn't price match it. I reminded him that I could go into the store and order one, thus getting their pricing. He wouldn't budge.

So basically if you're shopping at Best Buy just remember they have the price match guarantee*

*If you spend several hours convincing them that per their policy they should price match, followed by 8 different employees telling you 8 different reasons why they won't.

Sorry if I'm being overly bitter about this, if they could give me a straight answer I wouldn't be. I don't like that they can essentially, and seemingly arbitrarily apply a policy that they wrote up. But hey, I'm just a customer, what do I know?

damn i just got mine last week form bestbuy. i 100% agree with you and was ready to go back and try to complain but seeing as how most people didn't make it happen wondering if it's worth the hassle

The guy i spoke to at Staples said the recall was because all the Staples stores had incorrectly gotten the 3G version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 instead of wifi only. That's why they were sending them back. No idea if it's true or not.

It isn't.

I got a truthful person at Staples. They pulled the Tabs and Transformers because they were already selling those well but the Xooms and Iconias don't sell and they are glutted with them. So they did this to. in effect, blow out the poor selling tablets.

I would call and verify the policy over the phone. Some people are having success, so it's worth a shot.

The Staples I visited over the weekend was similar to what you're saying Joelist, thanks for the information. They only had the Xoom, Iconica, Playbook, and Touchpad on display. When I inquired about the other models they said they didn't stock them.

OK, but they still sold me a Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the coupon (they had to order it).

There's only one way to fix these types of issues with Best Buy and it's what I've done since I quit working there because of their bait and switch laptop optimization crap.
Stop spending money there.
Really, if you have a problem with their official or unofficial policies or how they implement them stop spending your money there.
It's the only thing that will effect change.
This is coming from someone who still has some of their stock.

Just got the samsung galaxy tab yesteday! Selling the transformer if it turns out to be as good as everyone says

Had mine for about a week to test out....was skeptical I'd use it, but love it so far. Especially when you can tether it to a rooted phone!

I got mine using the Staples coupon an I'm loving it! I went from having all iOS devices to all Android in a week and I'll never look back!

Glad I bought SwiftKey X tablet for it, makes typing so much easier.

Staples Coupon for $100 Off Tablets through 7/30/11

Here are are the details and success stories at Android Central: Staples giving $100 off select tablets, what will you be buying?

The comments tell of taking the Staples coupon to nearby Office Max, Frys, Office Depot, Best Buy, etc. for their price match guarantees. Some Staples stores are struggling to re-stock each day.

Here is the coupon that must be printed and taken to a local store:

$100 OFF any tablet with this coupon. Limited exclusions apply. Models vary by store.

The $399 Acer Iconia along with the Asus Transformer are now $299 until 7/30/11. The $499 Samsung Tab 10.1 and Motorola Xoom are now $399.

Remember that this is a fishing expedition. Don't call local stores. Go to them. Check their website and find the stores that have your tablet instock and go there.

Lots of people are having success getting price matches by walking into local competitors. Others are checking every local Stapleseach day when new shipments are coming in.

You will prevail.

Best Buy stores received word from Corp today about the coupon via email. Stores can price match the $100 off if the local Staples, with in a 25 mile radius of that Best Buy store, has the item in stock.

Sometimes a retailer will advertise a product as having limited quantities in stock. If the item is out of stock or the competitor has advertised as limited quantities of an item, it is not eligible for price matching. Likewise, if Best Buy has a product that is advertised as being limited in quantity it will not be eligible for price matching.

The price match policy has always been that the item has to be in stock at the store with the lower price in order to give a price match.

Not being funny... but if your local Staples has it in stock... why would I need to go to Best Buy to have them price match it??

It really is a case of "who you speak to" with Best Buy, though. They're price match policy applies to items priced lower and in stock at a local competitor's store. Coupons and instant rebates don't apply to that. Doesn't hurt to ask, but chances are you won't get a price match on this coupon. Some have gotten lucky, though...
