11/21/2011: VZW Nexus (Unconfirmed)

Can't believe how a phone launch could so mess up. First it was exclusive then not. Lol. Now delayed... Wonder what google thinks? Probably regrets using verizon for the nexus. Lol. Maybe first and last nexus on verizon.

Or maybe google will learn from apple and release it on all carriers simultaneously.

December 8th? I'm not convinced. Essentially what were being told is that a company needs almost an entire month to test a phone they've already had for quite some time. If I gave you infinite knowledge about the apps in question, plus ample support and all the resources you need about the OS you're getting them to work on, how long would it take you to fix it? Would it really take 3 more weeks?

My guess is that the picture circulating is either old or completely fake. Last minute bugs can happen, but they're exactly that; last minute. It should take mere days to fix, not a full "back to the drawing board" like this new date suggests. Is it really that bad that they're going to miss the biggest shopping day/weekend of the year? In my mind, no.

As for the picture? It's probably just another tactic to throw the scent off the trail. This is completely my own opinion and I could be dead wrong, but I'm not giving up on next week just yet.

Supposedly the app in question (backup assistant) is faulty... an app that no one interested in this device will use. I'm not really sure of its purpose anyway. There's the machines that will transfer your contacts (sometimes even if your phone is jacked up beyond belief). And there's also google services which I'm sure the majority of the people here would use.

To add to the irony... the answer to puzzle number 6 was:
googlenexus: Challenge 6 answer: With #ICS & @googlenexus, you can have EVERYTHING IN THE CLOUD.

And they added:
googlenexus: #ICS securely syncs contacts, Gmail, photos, music +more w/ Google's cloud. Sign in to any device w/ your Google account & have your stuff!

Not to mention that I find it odd that when that first spreadsheet showing the 12/8 date was posted, everyone crapped on it saying it was just marketing materials. Then, like angry "I didn't convince people on my theory" magic, another one appears that leaves no room for error. Just saying.

I personally thing Google OK'd backup assistant so we can test out "hiding" apps. lol, its a thought.

If this story is remotely true, I think Verizon has Google in a skirt and apron cooking them dinner.

I had a couple theories I wanted to share, as well as some info I gathered after thinking about these theories.

First, in regards to the picture stating 12/08: I have a feeling this is from an authorized retailer, which would only indicate that THEY would be launching on 12/08, leaving the 11/21 still an option for w/o or corporate stores. The reason for this is the wording on the red dinc2. They mention that the units would be shipped direct from HTC and not "our VZW DC". This struck me as odd, as why would a corporate office have to refer to themselves as "our VZW"? I work for a large corporation myself, and we never refer to ourselves as "our [company name] department". It would make more sense if that was coming from an authorized retailer instead, especially as many of them cover multiple carriers and would therefore have reason to specify the carrier. Even if I'm wrong here, there's also the possibility that this is merely the in-store date, as the prior info we had said 11/21 but web only.

My second theory is in regards to VZW's exclusivity: I doubt that when Samsung agreed to the exclusivity, that they extended it from the date in which VZW decides to release the phone, but more likely from the date in which they (Samsung) were ready to release (say 11/17, when UK was ready). If they extended it from the date VZW decided to release, then Sammy'd be in an awkward position if VZW decided to drag their heels. Now Sammy could potentially lose $ when releasing to other carriers if VZW decided to wait until just before another carrier is about to drop a similar and/or better phone. I doubt they would have overlooked that possibility. If the agreement was from the date in which Sammy had the phone ready, then VZW would want to get it out soon to maintain some amount of exclusivity. Otherwise they could wait too long then only have it exclusive for a short period of time, hurting their sales.

Based on this, I decided to try calling a local store, and hoping to catch them off guard I asked if they had any in stock rather than if they knew the release date. The woman I spoke to said "that device hasn't launched yet, but is expected to next week." When I pressed further, she backtracked and said they didn't have a release date yet. You could take that as her initially thinking of the 11/21 date, then realizing that it's been pushed to 12/08, or you could take it as next week being correct and her trying to deflect the fact that she gave me info she wasn't supposed to. I'm hoping for the latter, but I guess we'll see soon.

i bought the rezound and returned it yesterday i didnt like it, anyway the manager told me he's been waiting on the nexus as well for his own personal use, he told me all the accesories are already in the store, they have all been trained on the phone, now just waiting to get it. he seems to think it might be this monday also (21st) but not to buy it, but to pre-order it online. who knows. this all remimds me of the tb release and how it was botched up so many times

I am still at children's hospital with my son while he is recovering from his surgery, so this delay really doesn't bother me that much. I am still expecting it by the 21st.

I still have faith for the 21st

Are you seriously giving Verizon your trust again?

They're dogs. Don't bother.

I am hoping for a web only release on the 21st, available in stores on Dec. 8th. Plausible.

What I take from waiting for HTC Thunderbolt unless a date is mention by verizon all else can be taking with grain of salt. FYI I know nothing I said is new but still to put it in perspective. All the rumor on release dates for the device can be true but since verizon hasn't say anything they can release the device when ever they want with no foul. Just putting in my two cents. I am more interested on getting a full reviews on device putting the phone through it's paces for day. So far all reviews have made me intrigued about 4.O but the device it's self in question as well performance. Speaking of performance the benchmarks were not surprising as the texas intruments cpu have always been on bottom out of snap, samsungs, and nividia. Those the relationship between scores based on ICS compared to other devices with gingerbread is interesting. Begs to wonder is it really fair comparison.
