11/21/2011: VZW Nexus (Unconfirmed)

A few sites have posted about a 12/8 launch, and I can see Verizon doing that unfortunately. Verizon probably wants to sell as much of its Razor and Rezound stock during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales period as it can. A 12/8 launch is just far enough outside of that window. Really hope I'm wrong though.

I know this rumor mill has just been insane with dates, but I'm hearing from a former co-worker from Verizon that we're looking between a November 21st and 24th release date (unknown if this is online only, store release, or both). I've taken all release dates with a grain of salt, but this one seems to coincide with the leaked documents and whatnot that have surfaced from VZW's intranet. He's been pretty good about the dates, and since he works for them still, I'm pretty sure he's got the correct date range.

We can only hope your friend is right.

I'm 99% certain he's right. He updates me at any chance he can with info on the release date as well as any accessories coming out for it too. Once he gets the date, I'll be sure to pass it on.

I'm just wondering about the leaked pic from VZW's intranet stating that the Nexus will be out on December 8th. Maybe an online launch first, then an in-store launch a week after?

I am still convinced that with Google's contest ending tomorrow, we will get our announcement and all will be revealed. I am not sure when the actual release day will be, but I have fingers crossed that question will be answered tomorrow. I am betting that pre-orders begin Nov 21.

I read this at Droid forum. Take it for what you want.user nme is jfmfa or something.

I was speaking with my spouse (a VZW employee today). He told me that he was approached by his district manager about his "Best Device" phone upgrade. Best Device is the upgrade program VZW employees get where their company phone is paid for (this is for corporate employees - not sure about if agents get to participate in best device). Every 45 days, employees can upgrade to the newest phones.

With the Best Device program, employees have access to the newest phones 1-2 weeks after launch, but almost never right at launch. The district manager asked my spouse if he was eligible to upgrade his Best Device soon, and he said yes. He said "good!" and then asked if he wanted to get the Galaxy Nexus as his next device. My spouse said "well yeah" and the DM said "Well, on December 1st employees will be eligible for Best Device upgrades to the Nexus." Using the knowledge that we have about the 1-2 week waiting time for Best Devices, it seems as if the Galaxy Nexus might still be on schedule to launch next week.

Further, my spouse has been the marketing (OMM) person in many of his previous (and current) corporate VZW stores. He took a look at the picture on Droid-life's website (the first one showing the December 8th launch date) that had reference to marketing materials and he started shaking his head. I asked why he was shaking his head and he said to me, "This is for agent locations, not corporate. Internal VZW systems for corporate are ALWAYS red and black, with some white, not the gray color you see here." He also told me the column that says "owner" which was blacked out was which agent/retailer owns the store (such as A Wirelss, Cellular One, etc.) - the individual agent companies. He specifically told me this is NOT a corporate communication. He then went on to suggest it may be that agents (as is sometimes the case in high profile launches) that agent/indirect may be getting the Nexus a few weeks after online/corporate.

Lastly, I showed him the old screenshot from many many days ago on Droid-life that shows the device launching "w/o November 21st" and he explained that in VZW marketing, "w/o" ALWAYS refers to "week of" - NOT web only.

Take all of this for what you want. I'm having him check OMM (VZW's internal, corporate marketing system) when he goes to work tomorrow, he's going to call me and see what he can find out. He's going to check call-out cards, which will give a launch date (if one is entered at this time) and the price that the phone will be at launch (pretty sure $299 given that we know it's going to have 32GB storage and a 4G radio).

Just so no one gets their hopes up.... the phone isn't coming this week. The best we can hope for is a web only release, but even that's unlikely and certainly not happening on Monday. The decision was made on Friday. With the holiday coming up people will be out. December 1st is likely the best case scenario right now.

Disregard anything you read about reps, regional store managers, or hearsay. Phil and others are in the loop and everything else is just wishful thinking.

Very interesting. Hope this person is right. It'll be pretty sad if this person went through all that trouble just to troll some people.

If it was coming tomorrow. Believe me. We'd know about it.

No. You must not have followed verizon too long. The droid 3 showed up on their site for preorder with no announcement from vzw until the next day.

If any of you are interested in either the Razr or Rezound, I'll be testing one of them until the Nexus comes out so I can share some insight on one of them if someone is considering buying one. I already tested the iPhone 4S (which was actually impressive and probably the second best phone in Verizon's lineup behind the Nexus) and I'd recommend it to anyone who is tolerant of iOS.

It makes sense to me. When I look at it the main thing that jumps out at me is that it says Galaxy Nexus in "ALL stores" by December 8. It might be coming out before then and has to be available in all stores by December 8. Still doesn't necessarily mean we'll see it this week but maybe before December 8.

I really hope it comes out tomorrow as tomorrow I'll be getting my 5th bionic replacement and honestly id rather they just throw it in a fire and will use my Droid x which is a much better phone. I'm still in awe how bad a product moto released. I hope at least a pre order announcement but I won't hold my breath.

I'm honestly hoping we hear something soon. I'm thinking more about more about the RAZR, but I so badly want unskinned ICS.

Can we please not bring religion and politics to the forum? We do not need anymore reason to jump on someone lol

Yeah, sorry guys I should've thought before I used that poster- I liked the caption so much that I didn't even consider the image. I didn't mean to offend anyone for their religious beliefs.

If I recall correctly, about the time that the D3 was coming out was also the time that they were releasing the X. I think 99% of the marketing and promo was for the X.

no x2 was out before it and you are thinking about the droid 2 which came out shortly after the original droid x came out.
