11/21/2011: VZW Nexus (Unconfirmed)

LTE Advanced and WiMAX 2 are 4G. No one is talking about 5G because "true" 4G isn't even here. The organization that created the 4G standard conceded due to popular demand that the higher speed tech that we are using can be called 4G because it is faster than 3G was. Everything that we call 4G today is actually 3.5G. Even Verizon's and AT&T's LTE network isn't near as fast as true 4G. True 4G standards state that we will have 1Gbps speeds while stationary and 100Mbps while mobile.

Thats not true.

All of these '4G' techs out right now, are indeed 4G. So sayeth the ITU.

Google has stated that the device will be available on Verizon in November (Matias Duarte said this in an interview on "On the Verge"). December is less than two weeks away. We will see our phone soon. And just in case anyone missed it: The Panda says relax.

(Don't ask me who the Panda is. If you don't know, you haven't been here long enough. The search button is your friend.)

you've been here since Jan.....

Just got word they've pushed it back to the 28th. And even -that- is subject to change. And the madness continues.

ericskane could be right or he could be wrong. There's just no reason to take his rumor more seriously than anyone else.

He wrote this about a three weeks ago:
If anything, that should inspire confidence that the November 10th date for the Galaxy Nexus is accurate, as well. Now the only thing in question is if that's a hard launch date or a pre-order date. I guess its just a matter of whether Verizon wants pre-orders for it. Seeing as they haven't said a word about it yet, that would incline me to believe it won't be on pre-order. Could be wrong, though.
There could be any number of reasons why someone who is actually connected to a good source could be wrong, but until someone provides useful information they shouldn't be taken seriously.

I could say I have a source confirming the 28th or 21st and just get lucky.

Notice I never said I had heard anything until now? It's because no one was sure. What you posted above was my own analysis at the time. Am I claiming to be right? No. I'm just passing off info I'm getting and only when it has any weight to it.

I usually try to stay away from commenting on stuff like this so as not to fan the flames but, I REALLY think the G-Nex keeps getting pushed back because the Razr isn't doing as well as VZW would like (I believe you mentioned this in the OP) and they're waiting to see if sales will pick up. The irony of it is that VZW is missing out on more potential sales by sitting on the device. For a company that likes to make money they seem reluctant to take ours lol.

Well and that's part of the reason I don't like the idea of buying the Razr or the Rezound and then returning them because they'll see the sales pick up and think that they were smart by waiting to release the Galaxy Nexus, so they'll do the same thing next time.

Even if they do get a bunch of them returned, they won't care because you'll still have to pay the $35 restocking fee and they usually just look at the initial sales anyway.

My gut tells me we won't have a launch on 11/21. If anything, it'll be preorders for launch on 11/28.

Or they'll just bypass the 21st completely and announce/launch simultaneously on the 28th. (I think this would be a horrible plan, mixing an important release in with the mass advertising spam and confusion on "Cyber Monday". But it's not like corporations are immune to stupidity.)

Hoping I'm wrong. But I'm not expecting actual availability any time before 11/28. At the earliest.

My plan is to drink my way through next week so I don't think about it so much. :P

I look at it like this. I have heard every day of this month named as a release date, and a good chunk of next month's as well.

One of them is bound to be right.

People seem EXTREMELY sure of a release of some kind on the 21st over at Android Forums. It is looking more and more like a web-only release for Monday, though, and an in-store launch on the 28th. That sorta makes sense. Hell, release it on Monday and I'll order with overnight shipping for Tuesday.

They're convinced over there.

They get the same info as everyone else. Of course because their "mod" posts it they take it for the gospel. I hope it it true but we will see in a few days.

Honestly I dont see this release being as big of a deal as the Razr or even Rezound. Now, why I say this is because of this. MOST phone users dont care about unlocked bootloaders, "pure" Google experience, what OS version is on the phone, or even how much memory it has. MOST consumers want what they see on TV and what they see other people using. Thats why I thinkeven though most of us on here are looking forward to this Nexus, it wont be that big of a seller on VZW.

You avergae Joe/Jen that walks into their Verizon store will most likely end up going with a Razr or Rezound if for no other reason that they see with Motorola or HTC brand tage and immediatley feel safe. They wont even know what a "Galaxy Nexus" is...... which is good for all of us because that means no shortage of devices!!!!

Now, I will continue to wait for the Nexus and in the meantime get back to listing this iPhone 4 of my wife's so I have some cash to spend on my Nexus.

most users dont care about unlocked bootloaders, and no mfg UI over it etc.. but they do care about a brand new sparkly android OS and the other things listed on the marketing material.
