120 Hz reverts to 60 Hz when needed

I'm sure there will be a way to keep it 120htz all the time like developer settings.

Most likely, but only us phone nerds even know about developer settings. :D

I just can't wait until OEM's can implement proper variable refresh rate like the iPad Pro has. Not sure if it's an OLED issue or a battery issue.

Like the pixel 4xl or 1+7P based on content

It looks like Samsung will be doing what the Pixel and 1+ does. Adjusting either 60 or their max refresh rate. What the iPad Pro does is a little different. It goes from 24 Hz up to 120 Hz in multiples of 4 depending on the need and actual FPS. As far as I'm aware there isn't anything on Android yet that is capable of this. Nvidia and AMD have GPU's capable of doing it, but I don't think the Adreno used in many smartphone SOC's can.

Ahh ok

Now that I started thinking about it I wonder if it's even worth it on smaller displays. It might be noticeable enough to put that effort into 10+ inch displays, but under 7" it may just not be worthwhile.

I dont know for 120hz but 90 hz is a definite welcome

I'm fine with the current 60hz displays but I have nothing to compare it to.

I don't think at this point they need to go beyond 90hz in a phone .

This is just my opinion, but I'd rather see 90Hz at WQHD+ always, then Samsung pushing the 120Hz only with the Video Enhancer and in Game Booster modes.
